The Course
Do we have to rent the entire course?
No. Usually we set up the full 18 hole course with either the 19th or 20th, but depending on your space and the type of event we can set up 9 holes, just the 19th/20th holes, or whatever works for you! A 9-hole setup works well for shorter events, tighter spaces, or when you want guests cycling through faster.
How long does it take to play the full 18 holes?
The whole course can be completed in under an hour. Groups cycle through quickly, so lines stay manageable even at busy events.
Can the course be set up indoors?
Absolutely. We set up in gyms, event halls, atriums, warehouses — any space with enough room. Indoors or outdoors, we've done it.
Can the course be set up outdoors?
For sure. We need a flat space with good access. A pavillion or parking lot works great, but we've done grass yards and fields as well.
Setup & Logistics
How long does setup take?
About 90 minutes, though it varies depending on a few factors: indoors vs. outdoors, how close we can unload to the setup area, and what service level you've arranged (sound system, live scoring, etc.).
How long does teardown take?
About the same as setup — roughly 90 minutes. Your guests can leave whenever they're ready; we handle everything else.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, we're fully insured. We'll provide a certificate of insurance upon request — just let us know when you reach out.
How far will you travel for an event?
We're based in Buffalo and primarily serve the Rochester, Buffalo, and Finger Lakes region. For events outside that area, give us a call — we'll do our best to accommodate you.
The 19th & 20th Holes
What is the 19th Hole?
The 19th Hole is a 33-foot long, 8-inch wide raised putting rail — a real test of accuracy and touch. It's included at no extra charge and is purpose-built for fundraising: you set the price per try, you set the prize, and you keep every dollar raised from it. Guests line up all night.
What is the 20th Hole?
The 20th Hole is our newest attraction — similar to the 19th, but 8 feet longer with a challenging hillside and a hole on an incline. Even harder than the world-famous 19th. Just as popular as a fundraising add-on where you control the pricing and prizes.
Can we rent just the 19th or 20th Hole without the full course?
Yes. We offer the 19th and 20th holes as standalone rentals. They work great as add-ons to an existing event or as a featured attraction at a festival, fair, or fundraiser.
Fundraising
How does Puttering Around work as a fundraiser?
Typically it's modeled after a traditional golf tournament. You solicit hole sponsors from local businesses, advertise the event, and set the ticket price — you decide how much guests pay to play and what the prizes are. We handle everything else: setup, staff, sound system, and teardown. Hosts keep the difference between what they collect and what the rental costs. Many hosts make several thousand dollars in a few hours. Download our Fundraising Guide for a full breakdown of how to run your event.
Is Puttering Around only for fundraisers?
Not at all. We serve all kinds of events — corporate team building, school and college events, church functions, birthday parties, graduation celebrations, retirement parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, bar leagues, and travel sports teams. Any organization looking for a fun event or a great fundraiser is a great fit.
Pricing
How much does it cost?
Pricing is customized to your event — there's no one-size-fits-all package. It depends on the number of holes, event duration, location, and any add-ons you'd like. Contact us and we'll put together a quote within 24 hours.
What's included in the rental price?
A standard rental includes 18 holes, balls, putters, scorecards, the sound system for music, the 19th Hole, on-site staffing, setup, and teardown. It also includes travel in the Buffalo area.
